The Queen City
Charlotte, North Carolina was named in honor of the wife of King George III of England. Charlotte was located in the county of Mecklenburg, which was also named in honor of Queen Charlotte's homeland of Germany. This is how Charlotte became know as the "Queen City".

Location
Lake Norman is located in the northern section of Mecklenburg County in the southern Piedmont of North Carolina. It is just 18 miles northwest of the city. The lake is man-made and the surrounding towns and communities, in 4 counties, flourishing with life and enthusiasm, making Lake Norman the ideal place to live, work and play.

Lake Norman
Lake Norman is the largest body of fresh water in North Carolina. To give you an idea of the scope of our lake - there are 520 miles of shoreline, 32,500 surface acres of water and it is 34 miles long and 8 miles across at it's widest point. It holds 3.4 trillion gallons of water and is 130 feet deep at its deepest point.

Temperature
The average low temperature in January is 31 degrees F and the average high temperature in January is 50 degrees F. The average low temperature in July is 69 degrees F and the average high temperature in July is 88 degrees F.

Communities
The Charlotte and Lake Norman areas are thriving with growth and opportunities. Charming towns and communities around the lake provide all types of housing. There's a small-town atmosphere, nearby lakefront recreation and large-city amenities nearby. Davidson is home to Davidson College, recognized as one of the leading four-year liberal arts institutions in the country. A stroll down Davidson's Main Street will remind you of the past. Huntersville boasts a 650 acre Business Park and annual events such as Hello! Huntersville, a Christmas and Spring Festival. The town of Cornelius is a delightful blend of old and new. Shop in lovely-renovated downtown shops, browse the antique mall or visit one of the new shopping centers.
